SIO Pier SASS cleaned- MLC and MH
Cleaning on November 3, 2009 at ~1015am.
- Pre-cleaning Calibration bottles for salinity (2) were taken at ~1020am before the package was cleaned.
- Overall appearance of sensors appeared normal with usual to low growth of algae and barnacles over entire package.
- Fluorometer TBTO end cap was missing and fluoro cap had sand in bottom (medium level, 2cm), lenses covered with thin film of algae. Replaced TBTO holder and screen.
- CTD cell and/or pump appeared clogged since first few syringe pumps did not push water through to fluoro. Removed tubing from pump to fluoro to assist with cleaning. Pumped a gazillion times and finally worked clean. Some macro alga was on copper screen and copper was corroding before cleaning started. Replaced screen and flipped TBTO so fresh end was on outside.
- Replaced 2 out of 3 zincs.
- Briefly checked pier clamp- appears ok though need more thorough check.
- Post-cleaning Calibration bottles for salinity (2) were taken at ~1115am after the package was cleaned.
- One dive to complete job: 59 min, ~10am-11am
THINGS TO PURCHASE FOR NEXT TRIP:
-need new 3/4 and 9/16 box wrench since ones were lost last time (
-need 1 1/2 inch super buff paint scrapper- other one worked great but a bit large.
- bring dive watch!!!
TO DO ON NEXT DIVE:
- thorough check of pier clamp and chain
