Underway Sea Water Intake and Meteorological Data - 1 Minute Averages (Process Cruise)

Title
Assembled file of one minute averages for high resolution surface meteorological (Met) and sea water intake (SWI) data from continuous underway measurements from CCE LTER process cruises in the CCE region, 2006 - 2019.

Abstract
As the research vessel is underway for the duration of a CCE Process Cruise (since 2006, ongoing), 30 parameters are continuously measured regarding the oceanographic surface and atmospheric and navigational environment of the vessel, along the ship's trackline in the CCE region.

Methods

Raw Data and Processing of the Raw Data
The ship’s data system stored the data in .MET files, which are text files with the data. Data from the .MET files were processed in Matlab. he generated data files contained a subset of the data, one deemed useful for our applications. In addition blank columns were inserted to maintain consistency with similar data from previous cruises (e.g. BeamTransmission). The data were not changed during this processing with the exception of the GMT_Date and GMT_DateTime data objects, that were generated from file information. For compatibility with data from previous cruises where 30 second raw data were binned into 1 min bins in MS Access.

Data Quality
Those parts of the MET system that measured properties of the ship’s clean seawater were not well maintained during the cruise. Problems ranged from intermittent flow, malfunctioning sensors and likely sensors compromised by biofouling. Based on this experience all other MET data should be viewed with caution. No effort has been made to correct the data for these artifacts.

Oxygen Measurement (1408 cruise)
Oxygen - the sensor was significantly affected by flow rate and may have been unstable as well. Not to be trusted.
