2019-02-07-C-33RL
CalCOFI's original January winter cruise was postponed by the government shutdown. With the ship's impeding dry dock schedule and another possible government shutdown Feb 15th, our winter cruise was compressed into 8 days at sea. Core stations on Line 90 & 80 out to 100 were the focus. Additional stations on Lines 83 (83.3) & 87 (86.7) out to station 60 were planned, time-permitting. We were able to occupy 29 of 31 stations, dropping 83.60 & 87.60 due to lack of shiptime. All station work - CTD-rosette; Bongo, Pairovet, PRPOOS, Manta Net tows; NCOG & DIC sampling were performed. The deepest casts were in Santa Monica Basin to 715m & Santa Barbara Basin to 565m. Primary productivity incubation experiments were not performed this cruise so no prodo data will be available |

2018-10-14-C-33SR
CalCOFI 1806SR sailed Oct 14 2018 from Nimitz Marine Facility, Pt Loma on SIO RV Sally Ride with 21 scientists, technicians, biologists, & volunteers. 75 stations were scheduled this autumn cruise from 14-29 Oct, San Diego to Pt Arguello. All stations were occupied except one - sta 85.4 35.8 Pt Dume SCCOOS - which was dropped due to a lack of shiptime. This was scheduled in the optimal seasonal date window for an autumn cruise. The weather was excellent for the first week of the cruise and good for the rest of the cruise. |

2018-06-09-C-33SR
CalCOFI 1806SR sailed June 09 from Nimitz Marine Facilites, Pt Loma on SIO RV Sally Ride. 73 stations were scheduled - two SCCOOS stations, 93.4 26.4 & 91.7 26.4, were not scheduled due to Naval operations that would have required dropping station 90.45 later. 21 scientists, technicians, volunteers, and interns participated. Scheduled unusually early this summer, the weather was moderately-rough for most of the cruise, slowing transits. This resulted in dropping the Pt Dume SCCOOS station on the way home to San Diego. At sta 87.100 (31 39.4N 123 4.2W), RV Sally Ride rendezvoused with trans-Pacific race-support sailboat Present Moment towing abandoned race row boat Anne. RV Sally Ride brought the damaged boat onboard & transported it to San Diego. It was picked up by rower-owner Mike Matson June 25th. |

CalCOFI 1711SR sailed from Nimitz Marine Facilities (MarFac), San Diego at 0800 09 Nov 2017 with 17 scientists, technicians, & volunteers. 74 of 75 scheduled stations were successfully occupied; one station was missed due to naval operations precluding our timely occupation of sta 90.45. A personnel exchange mid-cruise caused a major change in the station order. On Line 80, sta 80.55, we were restricted from station due to a NOAA weather satellite missle launch so we continued west to 80.60. Sta 80.55 was occupied on our southward transit to Line 87. Refer to cruise track map for actual cruise track and station order. RV Sally Ride returned to San Diego at ~1430 24 Nov 2017 & due to the Thanksgiving holiday, offloading was postponed till 0800 Monday 27 Nov. |

CalCOFI 1708SR sailed on SIO RV Sally Ride at 1000PDT 01Aug2017 from Nimitz Marine Facilities (MarFac) San Diego. Returning to San Diego 0930PDT 16Aug2017, RV Sally Ride was offloaded upon arrival to MarFac. All 73 scheduled stations - 65 standard stations & 8 SCCOOS 20m stations were occupied (see station map). As planned, two stations were dropped - 93.3 120 & 91.7 26.4 - to complete the scheduled stations plus mooring deployment. To maximize ship transit efficiency, saving 10+hrs, RV Sally Ride sailed north after sta 83.3 51.0 to sta 80.0 60.0. With the mooring deployment scheduled for sta 80.0 55.0, this station was scheduled after sta 76.7 49.0 & the pickup of Uwe Send's mooring team at Avila Beach. Eight in-shore stations off Santa Barbara & Ventura were occupied after sta 80.55, as we transited south - see map below for actual cruise track. Please refer to the preliminary data plots web page and data links below for preliminary data. In addition to DIC, pH, NCOG sampling, 1708SR included oxygen stable isotope seawater samples collected on 18 stations (see map for station sampled). |
